Montepulciano is a charming town, and was very welcoming to my family. We had a great time exploring the city, and visiting the wine shops, restaurants, and stores. Definitely climb the tower at the top of the city, the view is breathtaking. But be prepared to walk uphill, a lot. This town, as I am sure is the case with many other hill towns in Tuscany, is not friendly to people with walking disabilities, and only permitted cars are allowed in the city walls. If you are driving in from the surrounding area for a day visit, plan to arrive earlier in the morning as parking is a challenge. Staying in the city was a treat, but I wouldn't do it for more than a few days as leaving the city and finding parking again on your return is a challenge at best.

History and historic wines combine in Montepulciano.

History and historic wines combine in Montepulciano. My husband and I are sommeliers, art and history lovers. This town delivers on all scores and the locals are incredibly inviting and friendly - even more than the typical Italian standard. This town constantly has cultural and musical events, some serious and others simply fun in nature. Wineries close by, and the wine bars, closer.

Montepulciano is beautiful and old and hilly and kind of mysterious. It's fun to walk around – although your legs get sore! All the old buildings and streets and alleys were super cool. It was also great being in the heart of wine country. We'd heard a lot about Italian hospitality but didn't get a whole lot of that – it was still fun to explore ourselves, thpough.

The setting was breathtaking. The accommodation was picture book perfect and included free parking! The views from the bell tower, directly across the piazza, made the climb worth every step! Highly recommended but allow yourself a minimum of a two night stay!

We had the great fortune of stumbling into the start of...

We had the great fortune of stumbling into the start of their week-long Bravio delle Botti festivities in which the neighborhoods compete against one another to roll wine barrels up the steep streets of the historical center. We got to see fantastic performances by the drum and flagwaving groups, have fantastic dinners put on by each of the 8 neighborhoods (contrade), and enjoy some shows put on in the Piazza Grande. The town itself is steep and filled with cantinas. Gorgeous historical hill town surrounded by gorgeous rolling hills, vineyards, and olive groves. It's Tuscany at its finest. Fairly well touristed, so be cognizant of prices and a few tourist traps, but otherwise very pleasant.

Montepulciano is a small town and everything is within walking distance, but it's very hilly (up and down). There are several good dining/drinking options (Trattoria di Cagnano on via Dell'Opio Nel Corsa was great for a late dinner!) and good for shops (tourist and retail/clothing/leather). Wine tasting is a must too (great wine options by the glass at the Montepulciano fortress and Enoliteca on via Di Gracciano Nel Corso)

It's a peaceful, rustic setting, just outside of Montepulciano. On our first night, we had dinner at the Godiolo restaurant, and it turned out to be the best food we had during our stay in Italy. We loved everything, especially the ribollita and truffle pasta. The service was also excellent. The next day, we had a wine tasting with Mattia, who told us about the estate and graciously offered many recommendations including a great pecorino cheese tasting nearby. We liked the vino nobile so much, we ordered a box to be shipped home.

Breakfast had fresh made pastries and breads; cheese and salami, and fresh fruit; there was a variety of fresh fruit juice to choose from, milk, tea, and coffee--all ENTHUSIASTICALLY served by our host Nicolo bellisimo!! The hotel was so clean and so was our room. I especially loved the crisp white sheets on the bed! The family run hotel all participated in making us to feel welcome. Great restaurant 50 meters away that the host recommended. The old town of Montepulciano is only about a 10 minute drive from this hotel.

Wow just INCREDIBLE! Only good things to say about this amazing resort. Mario, Anita and the others were the most amazing staff who not only catered to our every need but also gave us an upgrade to a bigger villa. We travel often and will honestly hope to come back every time we are in the region. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a luxury but affordable stay in Montepulciano or the Tuscany region. Also, breakfast was superb!!

Incredible property - surrounded by beautiful landscape and is superbly decorated. There were three pools to choose from, a small gym and spa facilities which were wonderful. The room was large and very clean. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful - really made our stay. The food is also excellent and there is an extensive wine list and good drinks menu. Definitely felt like a 5-star luxury hotel experience.

Coordinating check-in through WhatsApp was efficient and easy. Since my family arrived late, we were given clear parking directions and key drop box procedures. The location was right in the heart of town, and the staff was so nice! Breakfast was delicious. Like most of Italy, the room is a little snug, so if you have a lot of baggage, consider upgrading to a larger room. I highly recommend staying here!

A clean and spectacularly beautiful place, with a view of Tuscany.  The hostess Federica welcomed us to the hotel with a smile, and gave us the best recommendations, we ate at the best restaurant in our entire trip thanks to her. In addition rooms are huge and beautiful, there is a spa shower, the breakfast was good and there's a free parking that the hotel provides. We will definitely be back

This is a one of a kind stay that I hope to return to often. I highly recommend you include this spot on your trip to Italy. The hosts were lovely and accommodating and the house sits in a beautiful field of olives, grapes, lemons, artichokes, and countless herbs. At night we saw deer and rabbits and beautiful sunsets. Best part of our trip.
